Most of the millions of cows, pigs, sheep, and goats slaughtered for leather endure the horrors of factory farming, including extreme crowding and deprivation as well as castration, branding, tail-docking, and dehorning, all without any pain relief. The meat industry relies on skin sales to remain profitable.

In the wool industry, Australian ranchers perform “mulesing,” which involves carving huge chunks of skin and flesh from lambs’ backsides without anesthetics.

Every year in China, millions of cats and dogs are killed for their fur.  The fur is commonly mislabeled and sold throughout Europe and the U.S., even though it is illegal to do so.
