In the wild, dolphins swim up to 100 miles per day and can reach speeds of nearly 25 miles per hour. They can dive to depths of more than 1,475 feet. Captive dolphins suffer from extreme boredom in their sterile tanks. Since dolphins learn about their surroundings through echolocation - bouncing sonar off objects - the maze of echoes in the tanks can leave them disoriented and drive them insane.
